MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
ICON’s
basic content management solution allows administrators
to use web-based tools to add/modify and delete pages
within their website. No software is required to administer
to content, and the site can be administered to from
any location with an Internet connection.
The toolset requires
that the site’s primary categories—categories
that are at the top of the navigation tree—are
decided on and fixed prior to development. From these
fixed categories, administrators can create any number
of subcategories with content. And from these subcategories,
administrators can once again produce sub-pages with
content.
The tool allows administrators
to designate new pages including their place in the
navigation hierarchy, delete pages from the site,
automatically deleting it from the navigation, or
select a single page and make modifications to its
content.
Adding a new page
requires an administrator to drop content into a preset
“template”. This template effectively
represents a large, blank page with the proper navigation,
headers and footers already established on the page.
Administrators are responsible for the content in
between, including any HTML tags, hyperlinks or image
references made from that page. The toolset allows
administrators to maintain a “library”
of images that can be dropped into the site. This
library is always available online, reducing the number
of images that are misplaced post production.
This basic administration
tool allows users to quickly publish new content,
or revise existing materials in an instant, from any
Internet location. Some HTML publishing skills to
establish fonts, styles and images will be required
using this tool. Other modules described below allow
for more precise control over specific elements within
the site, requiring less HTML authoring, and improved
control over specific data. |
