be taken beyond a simple method for porting information
in a compact, easy to use format. Other options to
help gauge your marketing success include:
Open-Rate
Counter: To track the number of times the
CD-ROM is used, ICON Creative Technologies Group can
embed a mechanism that will “ping” our
server each time the CD is opened. This allows customers
to track the number of times the CD is used against
the number of CDs distributed. Also, since the data
can be tracked across a time scale, customers can
evaluate the impact of the CD-ROM at various trade
shows, or following certain mailings.
Auto-Updates:
Content on the CD-ROM can be updated if the user has
a web connection. The CD will go out to the web and
pull down basic text files and store them on the user’s
local machine/disk, reading from them when the information
is requested. This allows customers to identify certain
areas on the CD-ROM that will benefit from frequently-updated
material, and post those changes online (this does
not require an official website) when the adjustments
are available.
Screen Savers:
The CD-ROM also can be used to allow the end-user
to install screen savers on his/her computer. These
screen savers can include pictures of the customer’s
products and other visuals to run when the computer
is idle.
